Why we do it

We believe hard work deserves a stage.

People work all year for their moment. The magic was never ours — it belongs to the people on the floor. Our job is to build the stage that honors that work, and we build it with an unreasonable amount of care, effort, and time.

One season. Nine months. Every number counted.

The season is the story

Nov – Jan

Magic Hour Gym Tour

The season starts where the work happens. We took the show to 16 gyms — workouts and a first look at what's coming.

January

The Qualifier

Two weeks, streamed live from the gyms. Multiple scores, one shot at the May floor.

February

The Selection Show

Live, on camera: the qualifiers hear their names called. The floor gets its athletes.

April

CrossRide

Out of the gym and onto the road — a community ride with Cahaba Cycles.

May

CrossFit® Competition

Athlete competing at Magic City Games

374 athletes aged 35 to 70+ took the floor to prove the best years aren't behind anyone. 1,102 people paid to watch them do it — and FloElite broadcast it live.

July

Run Magic City

Runners racing through downtown Birmingham at Run Magic City

1,378 runners took over downtown Birmingham — 53% women, with a 9-year-old and an 82-year-old on the same course. The biggest field we run, and the most local.

Where the season ends: 302 competitors across 17 divisions, Rx to Novice — a lane for wherever you are. In the seats: 684 paying fans.

In their own words
Jason Grubb celebrating with a championship medal

“I've spent my career chasing the feeling of competing on the biggest stages — Magic City gives you that. You're not a number in a heat sheet; you're the main event. You feel like a pro from the second you walk in.”

Jason Grubb // Seven-time CrossFit Games Masters champion

“One of the best comp experiences I have ever had to date… We work so hard for these weekends — I felt like I was able to just show up, focus and have fun. I walked away with zero complaints, a full heart, some new milestones and a few new friends.”

Allison G.

“The organization, trained judges — even with my no reps, I deserved them — welcoming crew, every event on time. Incredible. First big comp and a bit overwhelmed, but your efficiency removed a lot of that stress.”

Angela Y.

“Last weekend told a story that I think every athlete will remember forever.”

Faris Malki, CEO of Cahaba Cycles, in the bike shop

“Magic City Games was a drastically different experience than any other event we have ever been involved with… I can honestly say that we got way more out of the event than what we put in.”
